Hi.

Not sure whether a mailing list is a good medium for a poll and whether
anyone is counting. But here is:

As you can conclude from other posts of mine: KDE's Plasma it is for me.

I looked at GNOME 3 and the GUI approach they chose just did not talk to
me.

I wanted a desktop, not a tablet. But mind you, even for that ThinkPad X1
Gen 2 tablet I have here I use Plasma. It is a fine hardware, but I cannot
really recommend it, cause Linux has some issues on it.

And I wanted to be able to configure things and make the desktop *my*
desktop, not have developers dictate how I should be using my machine.

However… for Excalibur it should be easy enough to have GNOME in Devuan.
The Systemd changes are in a later GNOME version than is packaged for
Debian 13 aka Trixie.

And after that: Let's see what happens. During a development cycle of
Debian Forky there may be 3rd party ways to provide for the additional
stuff GNOME uses from Systemd. But in the end it is a Devuan developers
decision anyway.

Maybe some time during the Forky development cycle it might be helpful for
that decision to have some privacy respecting more formal poll with actual
counting.

Best,
