..me too. The gnome (version 1?) that was in S.u.S.E.-5.2,
was _wonderful_ in that very wonderful way wonderful things
_should_ be _wonderful_. But back then I didn't know how
to do 'modprobe -v sb16' and audio worked automagically in
Red Hat-5.2, which again had me ditch gnome for kde around
Red Hat-6-ish, bailed out of RH-7.3 to Debian Woody, stayed
at kde-3.5.2 because kde-4 sucked, messed around until I
found LXDE, which evolved into LXQt while I came here.


..nowadays, if you want GNOME or anything else systemd,
you need to put it all in virtual machines.


..me, I'd prefer Devuan to put anything that depends on
Debian et al's usrmerge in in virtual machines.

..mostly LXQt, an eeepc still on LXDE, all with a mix of
