At the moment I use Gnome Terminal too, my display manager being
Cinnamon 5.6.8, which is GTK3.

Interestingly the 'About Gnome Terminal' page states:

"Gnome Terminal 
Version 3.46.8 for GNOME 43
Using VTE version 0.70.6 +BIDI +GNUTLS +ICU +SYSTEMD"

But of course it works without systemd.
