I started my Linux experience with Ubuntu, and the first thing to turn
me off of Ubuntu was Gnome.
I temporarily tried Debian's version of Gnome, used Mate for a while.
Now with Devuan I've been using Cinnamon, which I understand has Gnome
dependencies. I have been playing with a couple different window
managers, and could probably be convinced to try xfce or lxde if
necessary.
