IMNSHO, systemd-networkd is unfit for purpose.
It has taken an Ubuntu cloud-based production host I maintain offline
repeatedly because its DHCP lease could not be renewed ...
Happens just about every time a full backup is made of the self-hosted
GitLab instance it runs. And that's mostly all it runs.

In the first issue there is even a sledgehammer "fix" that checks for
network failure every minute and restarts systemd-networkd if needed.
