Exactly what I did some time ago and lacking my favourite [long time
abandoned] network UI (WiCD) I now use the time proven and reliable
[ifupdown] package.

Granted, I do not have to run a server so this is just for my
workstation, netbook, RPi, etc.
As always, YMMV.

But I don't see myself going back to the clusterfuck that [network-
manager] and [connman] have become, maybe not even [WiCD] should it
be resurrected.
