I like OpenBox too but KDE is certainly more lets get on with the job than any
other including Gnome. Maybe a good default of many applications could be built
on top of OpenBox as a package name like OpenBoxMax. I'm not sure it would
convince the likes of Ubuntu users though. It could with enough effort I'm sure.
I would love to see that kind of modular yet powerful GUI but I won't hold my
breath.

The dependency situation has improved since then but it's still like installing
the world and not being able to remove almost anything without things that you
want being removed. It is what it is. Atleast it provides real benefits unlike
systemd. OpenBox simplicity and focus works on any system too with 0 cpu use
whereas with KDE even after a huge effort for OpenBSD, not everything works and
cpu use never drops below 5 or 10%. KDE is certainly less reliable but also more
useful without having to play around with font issues etc..
