There is a phrase for this, it is called "weaponised complexity". The
keen observer might worry that systemd is engaging in a similar
activity.

While one should not underestimate the ability of volunteers to
keep up with such complexity (remember, mplayer and vlc were
supposed to be impossible too), it is good to look at
the alternative - that is rejecting the complexity and using
something simpler.

the steaming pile that is the web, we have gemini
