The side effect of removing that wait for a PID is that any other service that depends on the database will be started before the database is actually running.
If you don’t actually have any other services that depend on the database then it’s not a problem - you’ll just have to know not to try and run user programs needing it until it’s up. If you do have such services, then you’d need to delay their startup - and then you’re back to the system sitting there waiting for the database to be running.
