I was taught by a now deceased very long time *nix user to use a
distributed partition system doing a system install. (Means I have
partitions for root, var, usr, usr-local,swap and home.) This means
that most often I have to use 'expert' install even though I'm no bloody
expert. It is very likely that when I chose expert install that it was
chosen for me to use a versioned kernel. Not recognizing that is
very much a function of me using expert tools where I understand
a very small part of what I'm actually doing.

Thanking you very much for your assistance and also the adding
to my understanding!!
