Is use Debian Stretch without systemd or pulseaudio. One box is a
server, the other runs XFCE.
After upgrading to Stretch, I had to remove the XFCE meta package, in
order to get rid of xfce4-pulseaudio-plugin; I use qasmixer instead.
On the server I had to write a script to start the VLAN - PPPoE internet
link.
Before a major release update, I do a systemd reverse dependency check.
So far so good.
When this fails I probably switch to Devuan.
