For the same reason not to have more than one partition per disk: It
does nothing for you. If you need to grab space off other disks for a
given (former) mountpoint, a bind mount to a directory on the othe disk
does just fine. This way all your directories are like "rubber rooms"
that expand and contract as needed, and you only need to check each
hard disk with df -h.
