Well, not on any production system, but for a developer with multiple
target operating systems it can be useful.

If you have two target OS, you can have two computers, but when you
have ten, you really don't want to have ten computers at your desk
if you can avoid it. Or you can have virtual machines. Whatever
which makes you happy and works best for your application.

Target os's can be different distributions, different versions of a
distribution etc.
