The intention of my post about the effort of implementing usr-merge was
not about encouraging anyone to leave Devuan behind.

I just wanted to highlight what an insane amount of hours went into it.

Especially on that background I fully understand that Devuan developers
decided to go along with usr-merge. The effort to keep usr-merge out of
Devuan would be immense. Alpine Linux will move to it as well¹.

That written: I do not mind all that much whether usr is merged or not. As
long as the end result works okay. And while pondering that could have
been done with that insane amount of time, it is in the past already. Most
of usr-merge has been completed in Debian.
