Just in case:

My upgrade from Beowulf / XFCE to Chimaera was a disaster.
I posted about it at Dev1 but cannot find the page now, sorry

Solved it by doing a Chimaera -> Daedalus upgrade, hoping for the
best and not having to resort to all my backups.
ie: timeshift, backintime, images, etc.

I think (cannot say for sure) that the main culprit could have been
the XFCE upgrade part of the deal because what was absolutely borked
*was* the desktop, something that was quite evident from the first
boot.
