I am very caustous about replaceing Exim4 with Dragonfly, in part

I first tried to purge Exim and reinstall it on the odd chance doing
so could possibly cause it to forget what was causing the error message
in the first place. So I purged Exim4 and spend much of the day getting some work
done. Then I reinstalled Exim4.

Mucn to my suprise when I went to configure it, it remembered the old
configurarion. So the purge was not complete. In addition there was 780
new error messages in Mutt. This implies the problem had not been fixed 
by reinstallation.    

Where does Exim store the its configuraation information?
