One thing I should have mentioned re. the blurry font problem. I'm
using an NVidia card (GE 1030). It's probably obsolete by now. In
chimaera, I was using the proprietary NVidia driver (and it was fine
with that). In daedalus, I decided to try the apt-based install ("apt
install nvidia-driver firmware-misc-nonfree"). This may have some
bearing on the font problem.

If the best fix might be to get a new graphics card, I'm open to
suggestions and recommendations.
