Freedom to choose, when YOU choose, definitely yes.

But I see neither freedom nor choice in an obscure, mile long (and growing)
dependency list that silently pulls spyware. Which in turn will silently
collect your data and store it in an non-secure way, waiting for the next
browser 0day to fetch it.

A mere notice does not solve anything - the majority of non-tech users will
skip either reading or understanding it.


We can try to discuss and define the acceptable limits. Obviously those will
vary per person...

As per me the most relaxed, and still somehow acceptable condition, to have
zeitgeist in the repos, is to forbid other stuff to depend on it. And the
extreme but proper way - unofficial repos are the right place for it.
