Thanks Antony,

I was suspicious of the 2014 date but expected to find an alternative if it had expired...
or wondered whether this was an issue for me because beowulf has not yet been released as stable.

Apt refused to acknowledge that the package even existed.
I tried to override apt's security settings to download and install the keyring package but failed.
I would benefit from apt usage guidance when dealing with less common scenarios, it may have
failed to an error on my part.

For anybody wondering if it's possible...
I have 'sort-of' migrated Kali-linux to Devuan running Trinity Desktop
No doubt the future will bite back for doing so...
