I've already supplied an eudev version renaming libudev* to libeudev* but it was rejected by parazyd. I'ts just a matter to revert to that version. Currently I'm afk so that patch has to wait until next week, if I would do that. But I think that version can easily be retreived by parazyd, if he is willing to do that. (And if the renaming is a decision we all agree upon)
There is no reason to set an epoch at all.
the package should not build or ship libudev... but libeudev and have:
"Provides: libudev1 (=<libudev version>)
"Replaces: libudev1
This allows a drop in replacement for libudev without the name conflict
