I love the kind of denialism being played out on the internet that this
is completely normal, that it was only something to make Assad look bad
or that they were public about this (by giving rebels TOWs early on).

Lets address these points.

The US destabilised the Syrian state not for their publicly claimed goal
of supporting freedom and democracy, but for supporting their Saudi
prince allies agenda against Iran by fuelling a sectarian vicious war
with hundreds of thousands dead, and atrocities of every kind (torture,
burnings, chemical attacks, mass genocide, mass sexual slavery, barrel
bombings, refugees).

Basically blood is on their hands.

For those who say it was only a media strategy, the fact that millions
were pumped into arming (and recently training) rebels, and looking the
other way while terrorists were so easily able to escape into Syria
shows this clearly as a proxy war. This is the most fucking stupid
narrative, and you are a zombie if you believe this.

Lastly this document shows that US influence in this war was completely
self guided with malicious intent, and that (again) the public has been
lied to about US intent.

Basically siding with Turkey and Saudi Arabia to hurt Russia and Iran.

Meanwhile the west continues to keep supporting Turkey over the Kurds,
because Turkey is the big power that opposes Russia. That's right,
Turkey which funds, and supports IS and had absolutely no problem with
IS sharing most of the border with them is the ally of the US, but not
the democratic secular Kurds in Syria that are the most effective
fighting force against IS. The US prefers an Islamist authoritarian
president of a nationalist racist state (Turkey).
