Happy to have an occasion for an actual technical question :-)
And even then OT because it's xorg, not actually xlibre, but
you big-brained humans do know a lot about this subject.
I'm using debian/devuan xorg 1:7.7+23 compiled for amd64.
And I run my system fairly long between reboots, about a
month at present.
When I start X, I remap a couple keys with this script:
# Use CapsLock as Ctrl, allow Ctrl-Alt-BackSpace to kill X server
setxkbmap -option ctrl:nocaps,terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp
# Don't beep
xset b off
# Disable PrintScreen (by mapping it to BackSpace)
xmodmap -e 'keysym Print = BackSpace'
The problem -- having reared its ugly head
a few times now -- is that the caps state gets
reversed. It's like caps lock: caps all the time,
unless shifted.
Rerunning the above script doesn't help.
Unplugging/replugging the keyboard doesn't
help. I have two keyboards plugged in, and both
end up in the same state.
Restarting X does resolve the issue, until
days later, or a week, it triggers again.
Any ideas about this? I can bug report it to
xorg, but first thought to bring it to the
attention of the big-brained humans on this
list. You know who you are :-)
Thanks, Merry X and a Happy New Year!
