Shalom Original Linux Fan,
Why didn't you tell me this in 1996? Unlike most dark-theme advocates,
you've described this as a real workflow issue, rather than "I think
it's prettier" or the generic "White background gives me a headache"
uttered by many self-styled artiste`s, usually the ones who use 7 point
purple on dark blue. You bring up a real issue.
I just pulled up several Troubleshooters.Com pages, including several
I've authored in the past 5 years, and even with Firefox set to dark
mode, they come out with a #ffffff white background.
You should write a HOWTO on how to make one's site switchable. I can
help to the extent of representing those with 20/60 corrected vision
who need big, heavy print having a huge contrast with the background.
For the last 5 years, Troubleshooters.Com has been authored with a CSS
file that I can change. Maybe, just maybe, I can change this CSS file
to accommodate a dark theme. However, the current CSS file has #ffffff
hard coded in about 7 places. Because Troubleshooters.Com has about
1000 HTML files, I'd need to to do *a lot* of testing before
implementation.
Anyway, if you decide to write this HOWTO, I'll give you input from the
point of view of somebody with bad visual acuity.
