    Can only agree with you, except that all these security issues go
over my head. I still avoid UEFI, but there is also that minix-based
spying firmware. I hope to see the advent of affordable riscv hardware,
because powerpc is expensive and not well supported.

    I've used Reiserfs for everything as long as it was possible. Now
my / is on ext4 and I'll need to put also home on ext4 for Excalibur. I
like to stay simple and LVM is a lot of complication I use md RAID1 for
home on desktop. Of course, for a server, you should also keep /srv on
separate partitions; that's not the OS.

    I wonder if it is usefull to protect the boot process and the OS
with encryption. Isn't it enough to protect /home (and /srv) ? Anyway
I've never tried encrypted filesystems. How would it work to encrypt /home?
