I manage a number of headless monitor devices that have varying amounts of embedded NAND flash. They vary from 128MB to 512MB, this is nowhere near enough for a full /usr but is ample for /boot /bin /sbin with networking to then mount /usr from external storage, network, or make do without.

They need to be security updated\patched, one weak node with a CVE published exploit demo is an open doorway which then could be used to attack the rest of the network.

They also DONT need systemd.
