Hello everyone.
For anyone interested, I have just finished migrating a new Debian
Trixie VPS to Excalibur. I used the instructions on the Devuan site.
Yes, I know server migration is unsupported - luckily, the control panel
allows snapshots (I had to use this several times).
Most of the migration went well, except that after the reboot I couldn't
ssh into the VPS any more (cue snapshot restore). I solved this by
installing ifupdown and configuring eth0 before the reboot. I was then
able to ssh into the VPS, but any outgoing connection failed - there
were DNS servers configured, but they were defined by my VPS provider
and don't seem to work (or I'm just missing something obvious), so once
I configured some of my usual DNS providers, outgoing connections were
up and running agin (which was important because it allowed the
migration to finish).
So, basically, the instruction were mostly good, but didn't cover
maintaining network connectivity during the migration.
HTH, YMMV and other abbreviations,
Antoine
