Certainly, I use the hierarchical capability of Linux file systems.
Claimed only that a directory hierarchy isn't always necessary. For
some purposes a hierarchy can exist in file names.

Not porting anything in the recent discussion. The example was
mentioned only to illustrate that a hierarchy can exist in names
without directories.
Sometimes there is more than one way to reach a goal. In that
circumstance, a simpler solution can be considered even if unfamiliar.
