+1
It’s annoying that everything but the smallest TVs now only come with a load of built in spyware, complex remotes, slow loading, periodic reboots to get it working again*, and ...

... another killer feature for me is that I’ve not come across a TV that will power on with the HDMI signal and power down when the signal goes (i.e.standard behaviour for more or less any monitor.) So having to remember to switch on/off the TV at the right times - or possibly your system detects it’s not there and rearranges all your windows.

That last bit (rearranging windows) can be worked around by using an EDID saver. I do that at the moment even using a monitor - I have to switch between 3 computers, and since even an expensive HDMI switch that was supposed to keep all the computers happy didn’t work properly I stuck EDID savers between switch and computers.

Your line of work might also influence choice. If allowed to work from home, some will allow you to use your own monitor, but not anything “smart”.

* We have a JVC TV which is ... rubbish. It runs Google TV (which I don’t like now I’ve had a chance to live with it), but the processor is clearly underpowered (so laggy remote, slow app loading, etc.), and it regularly hangs needing a reboot to get it working.
