Thanks very much for your work here, it is valuable and much appreciated.
We do have a mechanism for rebuilding Debian packages directly[1]. But the only
package that uses this at the moment is unattended-upgrades which produces
slightly different debs to those compiled on a Debian system. The other
possibility is a short-lived fork. But that is more time and effort. However,
if sysv-rc-conf were in trixie-backports and therefore excalibur-backports, is
the extra work of either really worthwhile?
