I forgot to mention that navit is already packaged for debian, although
I haven't checked how recent that is. There are many other OSM
(OpenStreetMap) applications in debian and so devuan.

Many OpenStreetMap contributors use linux: I suspect most of the major
actors use linux, very often Debian.
