Subject: [DNG] Python GUI programming with tkinter: 8/6/2025 7pm Eastern Daylight time
Hi all,

Where: GoLUG Online: https://meet.jit.si/golug
When: Wednesday, 8/6/2025 7pm sharp Eastern Daylight time
Arrive 15 minutes early for Microphone check & discussion
Who: Steve Litt, Troubleshooter, Developer, Tech Writer
What: Python GUI programming with tkinter

Python is currently the world's most popular computer language. Python
programs can operate in a Command Line Interface (CLI), a web
interface, or a Graphical User Interface (GUI). For a less than
ginormous Python program, the GUI stack best combining popularity and
ease is tkinter, which is pretty much a one for one wrapper around Tk
functions.

Most people have used tkinter in Python, but a heck of a lot of such
usage is cut and pasted from the web, followed by trial and error
debugging. At Wednesday night's presentation you'll learn the logic
behind tkinter, which calls do what, the logic, order and form of
tkinter's event handling, and the intricate communication dance between
Tk and X11 or your Wayland compositor.

If Python is one of your languages and you sometimes want to go GUI,
this presentation is for you. I hope to see you there.
