Oggetto: Re: [DNG] daedalus on RPi 2 crashing, no log to indicate why
Sorry, couldn't see how to reply on the DNG web site. So... I re-built the
original RPi 2 that was
having issues, with Devuan and minimized what was installed (removed
NetworkManager,
modem-manager, avahid, and a few other things). So far, the device has been
stable for 3,
count 'em!, 3 whole days! Oh, potentially important, I didn't install the
LoRa HAT from Adafruit
nor the associated software. The BrosTrend driver compiles fine on the
32bit Devuan, but fails
on the 64bit. Not relevant for the RPi 2, just saying. Given I'm using an
official Raspberry Pi 5.1V,
2.5A power supply on a lowly RPi 2 with a single USB device, and I've tried
a few of them, I wasn't
too worried about that as the source, and since that overall system is a
giant UPS, I wasn't suspicious
of the AC power dropping either. So, no clue what actually helped, but I'm
most suspicious of
the LoRa HAT and the associated gpio accesses, since stopping that software
on the other RPi 2
that was on the listening end, also became more stable.

It's possible you need to connect the WiFi adapter to a powered USB
hub. Make sure the hub doesn't back power the USB host, else you'll
fry your RPI. I'm not able to recommend anything currently on the
market.
