Found nothing explicit about preventing the Adaptec card from
intervening in the boot process.
Page 4 has heading "Boot Device Settings" and subheading "Boot Target
ID". Therefore set all 8 LUNs to "No".

Still with Adaptec card and video card installed, booting yields a
consistent black screen.
HDD operation and video are rather distinct. How can they conflict?
More fundamental than BIOS? IRQ conflict? Neither card has a jumper.
Baffled for now. Further ideaas welcome.
