Autore: SoX NG Data: To: dng Oggetto: [DNG] Continued reiserfs support?
Hi!
Linux have decided to dike reiserfs out of the kernel and most
distros will probably be following suit.
Well, I ran tests on a range of journalling filesystems some years back
and of all of them, reiserfs won in almost all the speed tests and in
efficiency in packing small files. I've been using it for everything
since then and it has never lost a byte. Hats off!
Oh, I'm sure there are justifications (there always are, especially for
unjust things) but anyway.
So my question is: is Devuan following the let's-kill-Hans mania, or is
sideline support for reiserfs likely to be attempted? Cos retargeting
every partition of every hard disk to a different filesystem of unknown
(to me) reliability and performance, and losing access to the hard disk
backups stashed with friends and hidden about the city in case my house
burns down, is even less attractive than the prospect of remaining with
some ancient version of everything (or of the kernel) forever.
Replies telling me which other filesystem to use are not what I'm
looking for.
Thanks, looking forward to moving to Devuan anyway.
