Subject: [DNG] how to deal with breaking changes
Hi all,

I've noticed in the recent months - maybe as far back as a few years -
that there are changes (to probably debian) that make their way to
devuan and break things.

A recent example:

bind log rotation changes cause /var/log to need to be writtable by the
bind user... or so it seems.

I could fix it multiple ways. One thing I'll probably do going forward,
is install devuan fresh in a VM and see how bind is set up. That is not
low overhead. This never happened in the good stable debian days and the
early devuan days, but it's happening more recently. I like the fact
that debian used to be very stable and conservative in this regard. I
never had an update break my system back in the day. Now, it's becoming
more risky.

Is there any effort to test updates in devuan? If not, is anyone
interested in collaborating in automated testing for updates?

If there are devuan devs already doing this and I can see the
work/blog/announcements, where should I look?

Kind regards,

Simon
