I agree with you on all points except making it a default browser. As
an private-focused alternative along side the default FireFox, sure.
The default FireFox is what most people expect out of the box distro to
have. I saw another distro that replaced FireFox with Brave, but that
is kind of counter intuitive in my opinion since Brave which is
chromium-based still leaks data when proxied. Which FireFox does
not.
But back on topic. LibreWolf is pretty good at the privacy part. But
not as good as TorBrowser. I use Arkenfox
(
https://github.com/arkenfox/user.js ) which I believe Librewolf is
based on and they put a lot of faith in ETP instead of FPI and RFP
which TorBrowser use. So, if you really care about privacy you should
use TB which doesn't phone home at all.
Just a FYI I'm pretty sure you don't need anyway. But for other
subscribers perhaps.
In conclusion I wouldn't mind an alternate browser along side default
FireFox, but at the same tome it is really easy for the privacy minded
to just do it themselves and no extra dev-hours are needed for it.
All the best,
TT
