I think this would be a perfectly reasonable bug for the Debian BTS. In
fact, someone already raised it:

However, it seems to have been treated narrowly in terms of whether
specific command line options were supported.

I am sure the priority is too high, and it should be set to 20:

The question of how it gets resolved as an installation choice still
