Things to try:

Check the xorg.log

check ~/.xsession-errors

check sddm.conf and /etc/sddm/Xsession for correctness

try to reinstall or reconfigure sddm


Create a new user and see if the new user can login

if root logins are allowed see if root can login


Maybe one of these will point you in the right direction.
