This is (as I understand it) the "DEB-822" format as opposed to the
one-line option (see sources.list(5) for details).

As I understand it (read: poorly), deb-822 format is slightly easier to
manage with the deprecation of apt-key (and the global
/etc/apt/trusted.gpg). I don't recall any indications that it's planned
to supplant the one-line style, at least as an "official" thing direct
from Debian (i.e. in their ISOs), but then again I haven't been
following things that closely.
