That would be nice ;)  Going from ConsoleKit to eLogind definitely did
make a difference, although a rather obscure one that I didn't get to
the bottom of until I found the Debian patch that fixed it.

Indeed, although one of the "reasons you should not use SLiM" (according
to some people) is that it does that, with the (usually unstated)
implication that other DMs don't. I've not examined them all to check.

Yes, it helps, at least in that it reassures me I just need to find some
time for research, eventually, rather than worrying about it now ;)
