On a fresh netinstall with only "standard system utilities" checked on
"Sofware selection" page, running:

apt install task-gnome-desktop task-french-desktop

pulls up "task-xfce-desktop" package.

The cause is the lack of the "task-gnome-desktop" in the alternative list:

task-xfce-desktop | task-cinnamon-desktop | task-lxde-desktop |
task-kde-desktop | task-lxqt-desktop | task-mate-desktop

Debian 3.67 version includes it:

task-gnome-desktop | task-xfce-desktop | task-cinnamon-desktop |
task-lxde-desktop | task-kde-desktop | task-lxqt-desktop | task-mate-desktop

Version: 3.68+devuan2

Source package tasksel (3.68+devuan2) added to Devuan suite unstable.

This closes bug report 590.
