Hmm, also happens at TTYs you say ... I was thinking the pf, pn and po
settings in /etc/inittab might be involved but I can't seem to find the
/etc/init.d/powerfail script these want to invoke ...
Neither does apt-file search, on ascii at least.

Really low-level, something in your BIOS settings perhaps.
