Btw, comparing that repo to Debian's reveals a difference in package
versions. hezeh.org has either 1.14.0 or 1.20.0 while Debian Stretch has
1.16.2 (and 1.18.1 in backports, as you've already mentioned). That may
as well be a problem.

Anyway, if you want MATE, it's probably best to use the hezeh.org repo,
currently.
