Hope you won't mind my tucking in a quick question about Mate here. Has
Mate figured out how to center windows reliably? I used Gnome2 on
Squeeze and had to run compiz or devilspie to center windows because
gnome2 just couldn't get it right consistently. It was essentially a
deal-breaker. Xfce is rock solid with centering but I sometimes have
nostalgia for gnome2. FWIW, I use several Mate apps on xfce so am
somewhat tempted . . .
