The article advocates a wholly prudentialist position. Civil liberty A may
prevent effective management of social cost B. If our attitude to B
changes, we can limit A.
I'm not saying this is wrong in itself. But I am saying it's thoroughly
conservative. One of the ironic outcomes from pursuing progressive politics
to the hilt.
