How do you know Bitcoin is not a sentient being? I think we should give it
the benefit of the doubt, and assume we are dealing with a a sentient evolution
of money that depends on us for existance. I find it a very persuasive argument
that bitcoin is programming people to believe in it the same way the ancients
worshipped gods, or cats.

So those of us that do prefer to think for ourselves, rather than let our money
do our thinking have the choice of what God-currencies we spend, and whether we
treat them like slaves, or cultivate a mutually beneficial relationship.

So this is the thing.. Bitcoin is a consensus of it's users that 21 million
coins is the max money supply. If you don't like it, use something else, or
fork a copycatcoin, and cultivate something more to your liking.

At some point, someone will try and change the bitcoin consensus of max money,
and sentient or not, that change will be rather dramatically disruptive for
everyone involved.
