Subject: [dyne:bolic] will not find the parallel port on dyne:bolic - Re: Debian 6.0 - and how d:b is progressing now
Hello Jaromil,

Busting brains here but can't get an old HP LaserJet
talking to CUPS when connected to the Parallel Port?

http://www.techrepublic.com/article/control-printers-in-linux-from-the-command-line/5055067

lpinfo -v
dmesg | grep parport

will not find the parallel port on the
docking-station of an old ibm X31

any ideas?

thank you

port support?
I had a similar problem with my laser printer - I
had to modprobe some kernel modules, the main one
being parport_pc. I'll get my dyne system running
as soon as I can and let you know exactly what they
were.

port support?

Hi all,

I have a HP Deskjet640C connected at the parallel
port.
CUPS loads succesfully while the dyne boot process
(dyne.cfg).

By tiping "lpinfo -v" in my root shell, I'm missing
the "direct
parallel..." entry:

network socket
network http
network ipp
network lpd
direct scsi
serial serial:/dev/ttyS0?baud=115200
serial serial:/dev/ttyS1?baud=115200
serial serial:/dev/ttyS2?baud=115200
serial serial:/dev/ttyS3?baud=115200
direct usb:/dev/usb/lp0
direct usb:/dev/usb/lp1
direct usb:/dev/usb/lp2
direct usb:/dev/usb/lp3
direct usb:/dev/usb/lp4
direct usb:/dev/usb/lp5
direct usb:/dev/usb/lp6
direct usb:/dev/usb/lp7
direct usb:/dev/usb/lp8
direct usb:/dev/usb/lp9
direct usb:/dev/usb/lp10
direct usb:/dev/usb/lp11
direct usb:/dev/usb/lp12
direct usb:/dev/usb/lp13
direct usb:/dev/usb/lp14
direct usb:/dev/usb/lp15

How do I get the printer running? - Or should I
connect it to the serial
port?

Thanks in advance,
Yours,
