We really like TM's comment on the dyne list:

When reading your posting we question your motive
for "moving" to change "legal" status. The grass is
not any greener on the other side of the fence! It
may be said that a Man will confront and overcome
his challenges/obstacles in life, for that is the
mark of a true Man ;)

If it is just encouragement that you need, and yes
Pierre you are talented, why not look to Albert
Einstein. He was stateless between 1896 and 1901 !

Vrijwilligerswerk wordt mogelijk voor personen met
een legaal verblijfsstatuut en begunstigden van de
opvang. En misbruiken worden beter aangepakt.
Senaat keurt mijn wetsvoorstel goed.

Onvoorstelbaar. Een Amerikaans diplomaat vestigt
zich in Brussel. Zijn echtgenote komt mee, maar ze
werkt niet. Toch wil de vrouw zich nuttig maken in
het Belgische sociale leven, en biedt ze zich aan
als vrijwilligster in een opvangcentrum voor
vrouwen op de vlucht. Ze mag niet, de organisatie
durft haar helpende handen niet te aanvaarden,
omdat de Belgische wetgeving het verbiedt. Iemand
van vreemde origine, met een tijdelijk
verblijfsstatuut mag geen vrijwilligerswerk
verrichten, zelfs wanneer ze legaal mogen werken
(met een arbeidskaart).

Al even onvoorstelbaar. Dia Makoumbou, een
alleenstaande Congolese vrouw, verblijft al twee
jaar in België met haar drie kinderen. Ze zit in de
asielprocedure en wacht op een beslissing. Op het
schoolfeest van haar kinderen wil ze Afrikaanse
hapjes bereiden en tonen dat ze als moeder wenst
deel te nemen aan het schoolleven van haar
kinderen. Ze mag echter niet, want een
asielzoekster mag niet werken als vrijwilligster.
