You probably need to delete the X11 session file in the /tmp folder
before you restart X. It'll be something like .X0-lock or .X0-temp,
anyway it will start with a dot.

If you cant delete it, try "killall X" to kill the X session first.

Have a look at the output of "ps auxw" that will let you know if
there are any sessions running.
