Hi!

I failed to find a package list on the net for
pure:dyne so I just downloaded and checked it out for
myself.

The first thing I noticed is that it seemed to take a
lot longer to boot into X than dyne:bolic. The
all-black colour scheme got my satanic alarm bells
ringing which was then confirmed by the pure:dyne
'shrine' which pops up when you open FireFox as the
user is presented with images of Skull n' Crossbones
and guns splattered with blood- and I thought SuSE was
bad with all its reptilian symbology! Think again!

If pure:dyne is supposed to be geared more towards
music production than dyne:bolic then why isn't
Rosegarden part of pure when its in 'bolic? It's the
best OSS sequencer I know of. Both distros (ESPECIALLY
pure) would be greatly enhanced by the inclusion of
the latest rosegarden and the DSSI plug-ins I've
mentioned before - xsynth and FluidSynth in
particular.

(More occultism here in Linux app names too. The rose
garden in alchemical drawings is a symbol of sacred
space. It could mean a meditation chamber or
tabernacle, an altar, a sacred place in nature, or
paradise itself. In all these instances, the rose
garden is the mystical bridal chamber, the place of
the mystic marriage. Also see rosicrucians, the rose
on the cross etc. I've long considered doing a web
page or feature on occultism in the world of FOSS as
it is truly rife)

The other missing app which totally crippled the
usefulness of pure:evil for me is the absence of xdtv
aka xawdecode, which is the only Linux app I know of
which is capable of capturing DVD-res analogue
(v4l(2)) video at 30fps with real-time capture preview
etc. that works. Hence it covers a big flaw in
Cinelerra as its analogue video capture is hopelessly
broke.
